MACHOMER opens in OZ!
Jan 07, 10

Rick Miller's MacHomer kicks off its 4-city Australian tour with standing ovations, sold-out houses and rave reviews.  First stop: 3 weeks with the prestigious Sydney Theatre Company (Artistic Directors: Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton).

"ASTONISHING!...  Miller is able to flip from one character to another without missing a beat, at breakneck speed... MacHomer is great, but Miller is the real king here."
- The Daily Telegraph, Sydney.  Full review

"Astonishingly accomplished and cannily cast... Miller is adept at nailing the voices, and extraordinarily fast at switching between them."
- Sydney Morning Herald.  Full review

“(MacHomer) provides brilliant solo performer Rick Miller with an opportunity to show off his extraordinary mimicry skills, as he does the dozens of voices”

- The Australian

"An astonishing display of vocal fireworks and witty assignment of various Simpson characters to the Shakespearean roles... an extraordinary feat of character and voice appropriation by the super-energised Miller"

- Stage Noise, Sydney.  Full review

“HILARIOUS!... Could one man really retell Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth in 75 minutes — using the voices of characters from The Simpsons?  As Ned Flanders might say: abso-tively!”

- Oz Baby Boomers, Sydney.  Full review

NEW REVIEWS FROM BRISBANE:

“CANADA'S Rick Miller is the new Robin Williams: a hyperactive, verbal tornado who morphs from one

impersonation to the next with uninhibited anarchy… it's a vocal tour de force that will knock your socks off."

-Courier Mail (Brisbane)

"The audience spent their interaction with Miller and his performance in two states of mind. The first was in laughter The second state of mind was simply one of awe and admiration. It was difficult to comprehend that every action, voice and movement happening before our very eyes was the work of just one man."

-Samesame.com (Brisbane).  Full review.

-ABC National Radio (Full Review) from Brisbane - audio clip

Join the half a million Simpsons/Shakespeare fans on 4 continents who have made MacHomer one of the world's biggest little hits.   What began as a fringe festival mash-up of two dysfunctional families in 1995 has now evolved into a multimedia spectacular, full of sound and fury, signifying...well...nothing.  MacHomer's last venture into Australia was back in 2001 with the Melbourne Comedy Festival.  This time around, it will be storming through Sydney (Sydney Theatre Company), Brisbane (Queensland PAC), Wollongong (Merrigong Theatre Company), and Bathurst  (Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre).
